Issues with TV streaming of Fitness Plus

You need an HDMI cable that supports the HDCP standard and then Fitness should work with your Apple TV. I have a couple year old Apple TV 4K and figured it out last night. Not all HDMI cables support the HDCP standard apparently. I was using brand new high quality ones from Amazon and they did not. I switched to what I thought was a cheaper version from my cable company and the video and my Apple Watch fitness information displayed on the screen.

BTW also make sure your Apple Watch is updated to V 7.2 software. Otherwise Fitness won't work either.

Curious to know if those who were using their phones or iPads with the Apple HDMI adapter and an HDCP certified cable would be able to use them now too to broadcast to the tv?

Seems they use HDCP to stop people from copying the videos, which stops you from displaying it on you tv through HDMI cable.

It is just unfortunate they don’t spend some of those billions on aligning their hardware and software development. Who wants to spend £179 on a tv box that is 3 years old with a A10X cpu.

It works using a Anker USB C to HDMI adapter on my new iPad Air.

To get this to work using an iPhone, you will probably need the apple lightening digital av adapter.

Very disappointing. I have a Roku and signed up for Fitness Plus never imagining that Apple would limit mirroring to Apple TV only. I'm still in my 30 day free trial and this will push me over the edge to discontinuing before I have to pay the subscription.

This is just too disappointing. They are forcing us to buy a new version of AppleTV. Forget it, I downloaded Peloton App today. I can easily cast it using both chrome cast and the old Apple TV that I have and it has tons of more exercises.

I am not able to stream to my TV from my phone.

Following a yoga class or any other workout from a phone is not reasonable.

The minute the video for a workout begins the screen blacks out.

I called support and their solution was to purchase a new Apple TV and install the app.

Not kidding. Not reasonable.

Like the others, we tried for an hour last night (old apple TV and ROKU airplay) and both my techniques failed. I did not try through iPad or MBP but I didn't have the patience at that point I just logged into beach body. The preview video worked fine and looked great. But once you go to the workout, all you get is audio and a black screen. So the preview kept our hopes up, but like others here you cannot stream the actual workout.

Apple, your users will not adopt your new fitness app if we can't see it on our TVs at home. Nobody is going to buy your Apple TV, we are just going to Peloton or others. Guess we'll wait until you guys figure it out. Bye felicia :)

so you want us to buy a new apple TV to stream Fitness+ ?? I have the second generation apple TV and it appeasr its not supported. Not cool! I am going back to Peloton!

This is also a deal breaker for me. Trying to see which exercise they are doing on my phone is difficult and would be much easier when connected to a tv. The preview works but as soon as you start the work out it’s a black screen and just audio is coming out

I have the latest AppleTV and an iPhone 12. Still can’t get the video to play. I can see the countdown on the screen but as soon as the workout starts the screen goes black and only audio is streaming.

Not being able to stream my Apple Workout to my regular normal tv will make me not purchase this. How frustrating was it to be all ready to work out and I couldn’t watch it on my tv screen. I am old. I do bot have the vision not the desire to follow from my phone nor my laptop.

same problem here. can't really learn dancing on the little iPad screen. Soooo disappointed! Especially can see the preview on TV but not the real video! Doesn't make sense. Please can you solve this problem, apple!

Yes I agree, you don't care that all of us spent in most cases thousands of dollars on mac equipment I have 2 2013 Imacs, 2 2015 Imacs, 1 2017 Imac, 1 15" and 1 13" macbook pro, 1 13" macbook air an ipad mini a 2020 iphone se, and an apple watch series 6, not to mention an apple tv hd, and an apple tv 4k both attached to tv's I watch in my master bedroom and living room, that I cannot simply connect a lighting to av adapter and stream my Premium subscription of apple one for the fitness+ to my computer monitor is absurd. And to make matters worse you are moving away from intel to your M1 chip, guess I have to go back to using pc's and fitbit.
