Limiting when VO2 Max is read

I do a lot of rucking, which is walking with a weighted backpack. As such, my weight is often 20-35# higher than my actual

body weight when I go on “outdoor walks” and “hiking.”

My issue is, when rucking or hiking with this extra weight, my watch reads my VO2 Max data and tells me that I am below average because of the extra weight. I do not feel like editing my weight before every workout. Rather, I’d prefer that my watch only calculate VO2 Max when I am doing an outdoor run, which I do without weight.

I called Apple Support today and she was unable to help me with my issue. She described it as “my needs surpass the watch’s ability.” I wanted to post here so that this could be a consideration in the future.

I thought I had figured out a solution yesterday when I went to the Health app, went to VO2 Max, scrolled to “Show All Data,” and deleted all the data collected from walks and hikes. However, my support specialist said that this might be deleting data universally and not just from what VO2 is collecting, so I don’t want to do that anymore in fear that I’m deleting data from other metrics as well.

What would be even better is if apple would add a "rucking" workout to the list and allow you to add the weight of your pack or vest, and use that when calculating Vo2 max, calories burned, etc.

I've been walking with a 40lb weight vest, and I'm having the same problem as you. I'd like to either not have a reading displayed, or I'd like it to be accurate (taking the extra weight carried into account)
