Btw. there is another big threat about that issue in the Apple Support Community here: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/252151864
I had a long chat with the Apple support and he tested my phone with the Apple inspector and a battery check but he can't find something wrong. Then I had a chat with his boss and after that I got a call from Apple from a guy from the Apple care team (I don't have Apple care). We are talking long about that issue and in the end he gave me to tips:
https://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html
He told me that Apple takes care about the feedback issues and when a lot of people writing a feedback for the same issue, the developers taking care to have a look and try to fix it. But it's only necessary over this ways (Bug request, feedback formular, get in contact with the support). He told me that they ignore the Apple Support Communities for that. a
4g is the issue. I switched to wifi and didn’t use 4g and it works fine. Only a about 8 - 10 % discharge overnight. Apple must fix this 4g issue. Yesterday when i was out i had to charge it 4 times on 4g during the day.
Yes, you are right. Anything above 3G starts draining the battery like a countdown. I am not sure if this issue can be fixed with an update to modem firmware. I wonder if others who are not facing this battery drain issue are using the network of 4G and above !
I am connected to my home wifi all through the day (mobile data is off) and still don't see any abnormal battery drain during my daily usage. Can you try to delete the default Mail app of iOS, change the mobile network to 3G (if applicable), restart your phone and then see if you still find the battery drains faster on a wifi network ? I guess, the default Mail app is trying to do something in the background even if the background app refresh is turned off. You can give it a try...For me, once I changed from 3G to 4G, my battery drains faster even when on wifi (with mobile data off).
Im seeing something very similar with my SE, I went from 78% to 11 percent in about two hours on standby today. Ive shut everything down but it just draining inexplicably after installing 14.3. My phone is practically unusable. I cant keep it on a charger when its in my pocket!
Hi all
MY SOLUTION -> SETTINGS -> MOBILE DATA -> NETWORK SELECTION -> TURN OFF AUTOMATIC NETWORK SELECTION -> CHOSE THE SAME CARRIER THAT WAS AUTOMATICALLY SELECTED BEFORE
Context:
I am from Central Europe and I have an iPhone 12 with ios 14.3 (European version without mmwave 5g).
My carrier is Telenor and in my country they don't have 5g. In the settings, I only can choose from 4g or 3g.
I’ve been trying to find the source of the problem for months. I think its an iOS bug which is good because easier to solve them.
I tried many tips from this forum, but most of them are basic tips to improve battery life which is good but not the solution for the problem. I have isolated most of the settings from the problem, I think its not a wifi, Bluetooth or mobile data network issue. For some people changing carrier was the solution that was interesting because carriers not affect battery life. The solution for me was turning off automatic network (carrier) selection. I turn off automatic network selection and then select the same carrier that I used before. That's it, finally I have better battery life than a used iP7 with 80% battery health.
I appreciate your suggestion; however, I do not have those options on my iPhone SE 2020. I only have the option to select 3G and/or LTE.
I hope your solution works for you. As for now, I’m stuck with a battery drain problem, decreasing battery life, and carrying a charger with me everywhere on a phone that I’ve had for six months. 🧐
On the iphone 11 Pro, did the update and for about 3 days had the battery draining problem. Now I have the iPhone 12 Pro and I have endless issues with 14.3. I do not listen to Apple Music on the phone, but I use it in Car Play. 2 or 3 hours after I got out of the car, Apple Music was still showing as playing from my phone and it was draining the battery. Had to disconnect Bluetooth, erase the car from the phone, and reinstall it. Then yesterday, my battery was, for 2 weeks in a row, down to 50% by 6pm, and I hadn't even used the phone for anything but texting. Once again, check the Battery and it shows the Flashlight has been running for 6 1/2 hours. The flashlight was NOT turned on. Tonight I resorted to Apple Support, and the phone couldn't even be Updated due to a Software Bug. And it was connected to my MacBook Pro.
My first phone was an iPhone 5. I know how to use the darned things. But, I never have seen an IOS that is so bad.
Well, I thought it couldnt get worse but I was mistaken. Now my phone barely lasts a few hours and if I have 50% of the battery or less it crashes down when I launch Snapchat or any other app. The health condition of my battery dropped from 89% to 73% in less than two weeks. I am so angry at this.
I am running on iPhone X iOS 14.3 I have the same problem I turn off my phone at 30% and suddenly morning 1% I was so worried but it seem so much people experiencing this issue plz Apple fix the problem 🙏🙏
Same here - battery was lasting for two days, after upgrade to iOS 14.3, it came down to six hours... Phone was only 10 days old, so shipping it back and will keep my previous phone until they find a fix. Not good at all.
I bought the iPhone 12 Pro and it came with iOS 14.3. Long story, but I had to factory reset and it seems to be better now. At least my battery is not showing my largest amount of data being used by Flashlight when it’s not turned on. Same issue with Apple Music using a ton of battery without even listening to it.
Not only does it not charge fully overnight - the pint is that merely by upgrading g the iOS version - all of us noticed an immediate change to how long the battery lasts during normal use and how well it charges up again. By cable or wireless my device charges more slowly too. I will do whatever I have to to go back to 14.2 or 14.1. This is very poor quality and a ver poor response from apple.
After my horrid experience of upgrading to IOS 14.3 resulting in a 10% battery by 6pm, I reset the iPhone 12 to factory settings. After that I had no obvious battery drain problems by apps I was not using. And I've had no problems with the update 14.4. There must be some kind of software bug in IOS 14.3, because when I tried to upgrade my Apple TV, I had the same problems with not being able to properly install it. Once I took the TV back to factory settings, the updates went fine.
Good luck! There must have been a serious bug, because I was on the phone, my phone was attached to my macbook, and the software would not properly update. That's when Apple Support told me to factory reset.
My battery drain was largely due to a new game that was installed. Removed the game and my battery performance is close to what it was pre-14.3 update if not the same..... IOS 14.4 is a very small update - I wonder if there was something in there related to the batter drain..... :P
