mac mail bcc recipients issue

I cannot see my bcc recipients in sent mail - I need to check who I have bcc'd but the list of who I sent to does not appear in the sent mail. I have sent four emails with bcc recipients, the two that only had a couple of bcc recipients are shown but in the others where there was 6 or more I cannot see who I sent to - really frustrating... can anyone help?

OK so I did another test and bcc'd three email addresses in the family so I can check they got them, which they did. In that sent email the 'details' button is there and still there a day later so I can click on it and see which emails I sent to. But in two emails I sent the day before the 'details' button was there for a few hours and then disappeared.

I am filing the sent emails in a folder... could this have something to do with it?

Or could it possibly have something to do with the fact that some addresses I am sending to might be gmail or yahoo email addresses or something like that?

I can try another test in Safe mode but that won't really show me much as the test I did within the family worked fine so it should also work in safe mode. I could send the email with about 20 bccs in it again but I am concerned the same thing will happen again and then I am no better off - plus the recipients will think I am bombarding them with emails if they did actually get the first one!

Sorry, I am not an expert by any means, I just run a small holiday business. I am just trying to send christmas wishes to our customers without having to send emails one by one... it shouldn't be this difficult should it?

I have been using apple products for ten years or more and there does seem to be odd things like this which happen and cause hours of frustration....

I am not sure what you mean by all headers, and are the recipients showing Groups?

The issue has got stranger still though. Yesterday I sent two messages - both with myself in the To box and about three others in bcc. Immediately after they were sent I could see the bcc's in the sent mail.. However a couple of hours later the bccs had disappeared and the 'more details' option has also gone so there is no way to tell that I bcc'd anyone at all. Two other emails I sent on Wednesday with around 15 bcc recipients are the same and again the 'more details' option is not there and there is again no way to tell that I bcc'd anyone. I checked with one friend who I had bcc'd and she never received anything but I know others have as I have received replies from them - these are business contacts so I don't really want to send again as it makes me look rather hopeless! For me the lack of fields in the sent box since a recent upgrade (catalina maybe, not sure) is less than satisfactory as you can only sort by To or from or date and if you are trying to distinguish between emails it is not easy to find what you are looking for.

I am working on OS Catalina as I can't upgrade to Big Sur on my laptop as it tells me not enough space which I gather is an issue for a lot of people on laptops.

I have spent ages looking to try and see if I have done anything that caused this and checking settings etc but nothing I can find seems to help - and as I said I know for sure that the bcc field in the sent messages was there at first and now has gone.

More than frustrating!

Oh, sorry, in Mail's View menu>Message>All Headers

Have you...

Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at startup), does the problem occur in Safe Mode? Could take 10 minutes.

Safe mode attempts to repair Disks & clears lots of caches & loads safe Drivers, & prevents loading of 3rd party extensions, so if Safe Mode works try again in regular boot.
