iPhone 12 Max Pro Microphone not working

Bottom mic and the speaker mic were non functional

I have the same issue. Microphone stops working intermittently (person on the other side can't hear me for a fraction of a second) for all calls: whatsapp, facetime, or normal calls. Went to the nearby Apple store (I'm in Sydney, Australia) and they said they can't replace the phone, but can replace the phone components except the screen/body (found that weird). Apple web support has agreed for a replacement but not sure if I should go for it as I would end up getting a refurbished phone.

Me too. Let us know if the fault occurs again. I still think it a disgrace that on such an expensive device that Apple still doesn't acknowledge fully the fault and do a press release about replacements.

You are not alone. Yesterday mine has started having the same symptoms. Also no SIRI and no mic working with Teans or What's App. Come on Apple, we pay for the most expensive phone in the market and get this!!!!

I had the exact same issue. Won't work in zoom, what's app or voice memo. Doesn't work on speaker mode. Fine when I use the video or a normal call. Wiped and restored phone but still no joy. Its a week old.

Well, let's face it Apple must something about it. There seem to be a lot of owners experiencing the same fault and I can't see that as a software problem if 14.4 did not solve the issue. I am still awaiting mine to be replaced and see if it has the same issue.

Hey mine is having the same issue! Voice quality is pathetic - mine is a month old but having this problem since first week of buying this phone. iPhone 12 Pro Max!

As someone has already said .. such an expensive phone and such a disaster ! A basic voice quality is so pathetic ?

worst part is Apple is just doing their crappy trial and error troubleshooting with zero knowledge on resolving the issue. Now they telling me they will reinstall OS on my phone. For what ? Will it really help? They themselves don’t know. Am appalled at their horrible service standards - selling below par products ! Just last last month my AirPods right bud got spoilt - within 1.5 years !

Good news. My cell phone provider agreed with me and requested a replacement from Apple which I received on Friday. I have run a series of tests and all works fine.

My only worry now is whether to update to the latest iOS version or not give like another user it happened to me last time after update to 14.3.

I’ve bought an iPhone 12 Pro Max about 15 days ago and in facing the same issue

it worked well for the first 10 days but after that the microphone does not work with anything other than the carrier calls

Today I went to service center they told need 3 days to diagnostic after that they will decide need to replace or no. And I ask in case need to replace how long it takes ? The staff say around 1 month :(

I still have an iphone 6s that’s been with me since 2014 and it still working fine.!

Hi I have the same issue. My microphone suddenly stops working actually it works but its not the same volume anymore specially when I use my apps like Instagram story when I record a video it’s not working the mic is broken but when I use my camera to record a video all normal. And when I record on voice mail same not working I need answers really.

my iphone worked completely fine out of the box but after some days when siri stopped responding me and no one could listen anything when i send them a voice note on whatsapp then i checked voice memo same issue as well but works well when i take videos....i hve reset my phone couple of times and did a force restart too but the problem continues...

I have a 4 day old iPhone 12 max pro, when using face time or messenger video call the microphone will not work, as in the person your calling has no sound . If I plug in my headphones then they can here me . Also when I record a video the microphone works fine . Just not on any video chats . I’ve updated the phone to 14.3 . Also reset the phone and removed the messenger app and re installed it . Still no joy .. is it an app issues or a phone issue ? Please help

I have lost the icon for voice-to-text for my messages. This was preceded with garbled translation of speech to a mixture of Spanish and non-sensical English.
