Internet Recovery issue

Just installed an SSD in place if of the original HDD on a late 2013 27” iMac.

When booting up in internet recovery mode, it gets as far as the network selection screen, but when selecting the network and entering the password, it just goes back to the same network selection screen, with the spinning globe and the network selection drop-down. So it never gets beyond this point. The WiFi password is correct, and is accepted, but it just goes back to the network selection screen every time.

Also tried connecting via wired network cable but it still asks for a wifi network.

Any help would be appreciated!

Hello Tomhamer,

We understand you are having an issue with connecting to Wi-Fi while in Internet Recovery and we're happy to help. We'd recommend trying the tips listed below to resolve the issue: About macOS Recovery on Intel-based Mac computers

  • "Make sure that your Mac can connect to the internet. If you're not prompted to choose a Wi-Fi network during startup, choose a network from the Wi-Fi menu , if available.
  • Press Command-R at startup to try using the built-in Recovery system instead of internet Recovery.
  • Connect to the internet from a different Wi-Fi or Ethernet network. Your network configuration might not allow the internet access that macOS Recovery needs.
  • Try again later, because the issue might be temporary.
  • Start up from another disk or volume, if available, or use a bootable installer to reinstall macOS."

Best regards
