AirPod Pro Static and Drop When in Apps

My AirPod Pros are great, but when I am in apps for a while, it sounds like there is some kind of interference. It effects both sides, though I listen out of only one at a time typically. I’ll be listening for something for a few minutes fine and be in an app or a game, then static happens and the sound stops. The podcast keeps playing and doesn’t play through the speakers either. If I wait long enough, like a few minutes, static resumes, then the sound comes back. If I toggle over to podcasts, it is hard to get the podcast to stop and I have to close everything out. I had other wireless headphones prior to this (not airpods), and never had this issue.
