CBS All Access - Content Unavailable - Star Trek Discovery - Star Trek Lower Decks

Episodes stopped appearing in Up Next. Attempting to access the shows through other means simply produced a “Content unavailable” error. Restarts and logging out / back in would not solve the problem. The following did:

  1. Find the show listed somewhere (search for it, browse CBS All Access, etc.).
  2. Click and hold on the show.
  3. Remove the show from Up Next.
  4. Restart the Apple TV.
  5. Repeat #1 and #2.
  6. Add the show to Up Next.
  7. Click and hold on the show,
  8. Mark all episodes as watched.
  9. Click the show, navigate to the first episode you haven’t seen, and play it.

It appears that each step, including the restart, is necessary to fix the problem. Seems like a database corruption issue.

Hope this helps someone else.

Oh wow! What a bizarre bug.

@Snotes, the original OP’s solution wasn’t working for me either and I was getting this error on all my devices too. So I modified their steps a bit and I managed to fix it for me.

  1. Find the show on CBS All Access channel
  2. Press and hold to remove from Up Next. If you have already removed it, go to the next step
  3. Close the AppleTV app (double click the TV button and swipe up)
  4. Restart (NOT reset) the AppleTV in Settings
  5. Open the AppleTV app and find the show again on CBS All Access
  6. Press and hold to add it to your Up Next
  7. Go back to the app’s main screen (where your Up Next is) and find the show there
  8. Press and hold on it and mark all episodes as watched
  9. The show will disappear from up next. Find it on CBS All Access again and you should be able to access its details

I believe the trick is in re-adding the show to your Watch Next and then marking all episodes as watched.

Following these steps exactly helped me. I would like to add that there is no need to Reset Apple TV, one only needs to close the Apple TV app and go back in when following step 4. Thank you to whoever took the time to figure this out. Someone may have planted a bug so that Star Trek Discovery does not get all of the hits they normally get, hence looking like people were not interested in the s3 E 11 episode when the contrary is true. I have been trying to see this episode since Thursday. None of the other CBS all Access programming has this problem. They may use this to justify only 12 or13 episodes per season when they really need to have 22 episodes of Star Trek Discovery per season.

Yeah, that’s interesting. I posted earlier that I thought this problem might be related to the Wil Wheaton “Ready Room” episodes, so you’ve uncovered another indicating that those are involved.

I look forward to narrowing down whether your step #3 is needed, as that’s the same as my first substantive step. The difference is that you appear to substitute “Remove from Recently Watched” for my “Add to Up Next” and “Mark All as Watched”. If your method needs #3, the fact that both our subsequent steps work, despite being materially different, might shed further light on the exact nature of the problem.

I tried to mark your post as helpful, but I can’t for some reason.
