My Mac G4 2000 power light flashes, it cuts on but the light just flashes. What could cause this and how should I resolve the problem?

My Mac G4 2000 power light flashes when turning it on , it cuts on but the light keep flashing. It only cuts on but does not boot up showing the data on the screen. I have been told that it was probably the battery that is from 2009 or it may be a damage RAM. When the door is open I have the Ram from left to right. 512 MB - 512 MB - 128 MB.

Did you try a PMU/SMU Reset? There should be a micro switch to perform the PMU/SMU Reset. It should be labeled (there are two of these micro switches on the Logic Board and I forget what the other one does). You would press this micro switch one time for less than one second otherwise you will crash the PMU/SMU. I like to use something like a nylon stick to press the button so I can feel it move.

If the battery is depleted (very likely) you can remove the battery and try powering on the Mac. Without this battery the date & time, network settings, and possibly a few other setting will reset when the Mac is unplugged, but at least you may be able to power on the Mac. If this works, then you know that replacing the battery will likely solve your problems.
