Can't hear received calls on iPhone 12 Pro Max

Hi, I recently upgraded to 14.3 on my iPhone 12 max, when receiving calls I can’t hear the caller at all via the ear speaker or if you press the speaker button. If I hang up and ring them back there are no issues. Anyone have any suggestions?

I have tried the following and one of them solved the problem - for the last 2 weeks it is working fine:

  1. Reset network settings (this did not help by its own - temporary solution)
  2. Remove all BT devices and add again when needed
  3. Turnoff VoLTE

I do not have 5G in my region yet. Therefore I do not see the option all together. The reason I am writing this is because some as written that this happens when 5G is turned on, but seems like it was not the case for me.

This is for sure either a GSM radio issue or an OS issue. Hopefully it is the latter and Apple pushes a patch for it.

After a few months respite from this problem, it is back. As per all the others, a Pro 12 Max. Highly embarrassing using this phone as a business phone, when all I can do is let my clients ring me, try to answer (they can never hear me, or me hear them), and then ring them back. This is a joke, and has been happening intermittently since I purchased the phone when it was first released. How about a proper acknowledgement from Apple that there is a problem with the phone and a real and lasting solution? Or, even better, a full refund? Many people are all be having the same problem. It is not as if it is isolated, or user error.

I paid for my phone outright thinking iPhone 12 Pro Max was great but when I receive calls I can’t hear people I have to hang up restart my phone n call them back. It’s getting embarrassing now and Apple really need to fix this issue. So many people having same problem tried all their try fix hints nothing works. Hopefully Apple can help grrr

I have been to Apple four times and also did the online and phone trouble shoot. Apple will not admit that the 12 has a problem

I have done the new sim card that did nothing . I did everything they said and the phone still drops calls and people cannot understand you.

I went and bought an 11 because the 12 is useless for business and they would not take it back.

This will be my last apple phone as they no longer support their product

Hi!

I need help with my IPhone 12. I received the phone from Globe Telecom

last Jan. Upgrade to IOS 14.6. Almost every time I make a call or receive one, I cannot hear the other line. It sounds garbled like there is an interference.

It’s already becoming a nuisance that I can’t use my phone to call someone. Is this a software or a hardware issue? I can’t remember my phone being accidentally dropped.

Anyone having the same issues? What can I do?

I have tried everything given by others in this thread, and nothing works consistently. This iPhone 12 Max Pro is my first Apple device, I’ve had it approximately three months, and I loved it until this problem started. Now I’m having buyer’s remorse, seeing that, looking at the dates of complaints in this thread, this is a long-running Apple problem. Can Apple do no better than this, really?! If there is a permanent solution to this issue and not a temporary fix, can someone please post it here? Many thanks in advance!
