iTunes Vinyl to digital loss

I lost several albums from iTunes. They were vinyl and digitally recorded on my iMac and were playable in iTunes until I updated to Catalina. (I think, it was so long ago that I've forgotten exactly.)

Can I get them back?

If I record others, what format is required?

iMac 21.5″ 4K, macOS 11.1

Hart,

Do you mean the files got deleted? Look in Trash or your most recent backup. Or if you mean the files are still there but iTunes/Music doesn't connect to them, then locate them by searching in Finder and then re-add to your library.

As a reminder, when you are managing files on your computer, especially ones that would be difficult or impossible to replace, keep one or more backups.

To your last question, iTunes/Music prefers the following audio formats: MP3, AAC, Apple Lossless and AIFF. (WAV can be also be used but is not really properly handled.)
