Opening story from Safari in Apple News - Story Unavailable

When I open a news story from Safari in Apple News—by using the share button and then selecting Apple News—Apple News opens and it always says the story is unavailable. But then I’ll search for the story or go to that news source’s Apple News page and find the story there. For example, if I come across a WSJ article that I want to read from Twitter or Safari, I’ll try to open it in Apple News, since I have Apple News+ and can only read it there. Apple News inevitably says the story is unavailable. But then I easily find it on the WSJ Apple News page. Minor inconvenience I know, but anyone know of any fixes? What is the source of the problem?

Hi vayardsale,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We understand that you're having an issue with sharing an article from Safari to your Apple News app. We'd like to help.

Are you able to open and read an article on Safari without issue? Are you sharing the article to Apple News so you can refer to it again later? Do you notice that this issue happens when sharing from a specific news source?

Are you able to Read the latest headlines in the Apple News app without issue?

If you follow these steps to work on Safari and Apple News, does that help the app read the article: If an app unexpectedly quits, stops responding, or won’t open

Hope that helps!
