My adapter won’t work

Purchases usb c to digital multi port adapter and it won’t work. I tried another adapter to view a dell monitor and that won’t work -

macbook and monitor I bought an external monitor that will connect using the type c to type c connector when connected directly to the computer but will not work when using my USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter. I need it to work through the adaptor in order to be able to use other devices and be able to plug my computer in for recharging while using. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Just a couple thoughts, have you tried the other Thunderbolt 3 port? Have you tried with a different HDMI cable?
