Face ID won’t work on a locked note

iPhone 11, iOS 14.2

I have a note on my notes app that’s locked. I’ve always used the Face ID to unlock it. As a result I forgot the password.

But now it won’t let me use the Face ID to unlock it.

I have used the hint and still no luck.
Face ID on notes is on.
I’ve changed the password and it works for a random one I made. ** The random note I made with a password didn’t ask for the pass but straight to the Face ID.

Anyways thanks for the help!

a locked note can only be opened with the password that was used to lock it. Face ID is then a convenience to unlock them each time. There are some things that would require you to re-enter this password such as resetting Face ID.

If you cannot recall the password used to lock that note, you will not be able to access it's contents
