GarageBand Software Instrument / Apple Loop Installation snafu

Running GarageBand '11 version 6.0.5 (428.5)

on

iMac (mid-2011)

macOS High Sierra 10.13.6

860 GB of storage space available

I'm unable to download & install the complete set of GarageBand's Software Instrument & Apple Loops.

Here's the error message:

An error has occurred while running scripts from the package "GarageBandExtraContent.pkg".(112)

Apparently the content has been downloaded but the installation stalls on the script error.

How can I successfully install the update?

Thanks in advance!

Chris

Thanks Lukas!

Decided to try option #2.

Wasn't able to locate "GarageBndExtraContent.pkg" via the Console.app (strange!).

However, I was able to find it in the /Downloads folder. Clicked and pressed "Control" while selecting it, hit open, and gave permission to download it from an unidentifiable developer (bizarre since it was downloaded from Apple)...and success!

Just the other day I was testing if GB'11 still downloads and stumbled upon those errors, too.

The security certificate for the built-in installer of GB'11 is expired, hence the error. The actual *.pkg can be installed manually though, using the regular MacOS installer.

Download it directly from

http://swcdn.apple.com/content/downloads/43/39/061-5890/y2FxthySsyd2PSt3zfZ4mz3X kbqdGZPDZc/GarageBandExtraContent.tar

Expand the TAR archive until you get the GarageBandExtraContent.pkg file.

Control-click on the package and select Open.

Confirm the "unidentified developer" warning that you want to open the package.

Install.

Alternatively, you can locate the already downloaded but failed GarageBandExtraContent.pkg if you open the Console.app and search the system.log for "GarageBandExtraContent.pkg". The download location should be somewhere in the path /var/folders/_random_characters/_random_characters/com.apple.GarageBand/…
