Regarding sorting photos in an album to put on a usb flash drive. I want to maintain the way I sorted them on the album.

then you have to export the photos in a way, that the Finder can sort them in the same order as the album is sorted, for example, by renaming the files during the export with a running, sequential number. Try exporting the images from the album with the file naming option "Albumname with counter", when you are exporting with "File > Export ...".
