how can i stop the OS from closing my apps?

I've just updated to Big Sur, but this problem started after the Catalina OS install. I was hoping it would be fixed in Big Sur but it hasn't. If I leave my computer for more than 10 minutes it closes my apps. This causes me to have to set up all my security settings on my browser again, open up any files i was working on again, and I can't run Itunes without having to keep coming back to the mac and moving the cursor to prevent it from stopping ITunes... (how inconvenient right - what on earth were they thinking getting the OS to do this?!?!?!?!).

I have the battery setting set to never turn off the display as per screenshot below, but this does nothing.

Does anyone have a solution? Thanks

There is a feature that will silently quit apps that are not being used if you are doing things that require the memory that the app is using, but I don't know of any other feature that would cause it to quit an app on a time schedule.

I don't think I have ever seen it do that on my MacBook Pro, though.

You have something causing the problem, but I don't know what.

Maybe try running EtreCheck and post the report, here in the Additional Text area. It is free to run a report and post here. You are not required to buy the pro version to do that.
