Update iOS not possible

(iPhone 6s Plus)

I'm still getting the error message 'Software too old to install backup'. The iOS is 12.5 and will not update to a later version.

I have reset the phone a dozen times and STILL can't update or restore from my 'old' phone via iTunes.

I've followed all the instructions to the letter. But nope, it's still refusing to update.

My mistake. It's an iPhone 6 Plus, not 6s Plus.

The iPhone 6 Plus is compatible with iOS 12.5 maximum, and cannot be upgraded to any version later than that!
