Adding link to email signature

Prior to Big Sur, I had a graphic in my email signature with a link attached. With the new upgrade, when I add the link to Apple Mail it disappears as soon as I leave the screen. Has anyone else had this issue and have you been able to overcome it? Below are the steps that I previously took and have attempted since the upgrade:

1. Go to Mail/Preferences/Signatures

2. Click + to add a new signature, and name it.

3. Click in right-side window and click on the image to select it.

8. Type Cmd/K again to bring up the link box.

9. Enter URL that you want the image to link to.

10. Click OK, and you're done.

If I do these steps with text then the link remains, just not with graphics.
