iOS mail notification issue

on my MacBook I created a rule for mail with a specific subject to be sent to a subfolder. On my iPhone XS, running iOS 14.2, it still notifies of these messages coming in. I adjusted the rule to instead delete the messages. That works on my Mac but iPhone is still showing when these new messages arrive.

Oddly enough the messages do seem to delete but not until they display as a banner or in lock screen. If I click on it while it's a banner it displays the message but then takes me to another email and that other one is no longer to be found. The messages are not seen in the Notification Center after the fact.

I deleted the account from iPhone then added it back but it still has the same behavior.

This is with my work / O365 account. This rule does seem to have populated to O365 as I do not see the messages anywhere in my Webmail.

Thank you for any suggestions.

essentially I just wanted my iPhone to alert only on the main Inbox and not the subfolders. I engaged Apple Support and was told that is not an option.
