E-mail sync option missing

For the past couple of days or so, my phone has been asking me to log in to my Microsoft account to sync my e-mail. I decided to delete my e-mail account from my phone, and add it again. But now I’m missing the option to set how long I want my e-mail to sync.

I’ve checked Settings -> Mail -> Accounts -> Hotmail: No sync options there.

And I’ve checked Settings -> Mail -> Accounts -> Hotmail -> Account -> Advanced: No sync options there either.

That’s because you added your account as IMAP (via Add Account > Other). You’ll need to add the account using “Outlook.com” option on Add Account screen.

I have done some searching on Google, and I have found similar posts, asking about the «mail days to sync»-option.

One of the recent ones is this:

Another one from a few months ago:

I have found more posts asking about the same. So obviously this must have been an option in the iPhone settings, which is now missing.

The option used to be under Settings -> Mail -> Account -> Exchange (in my case, Hotmail)

Found a picture showing those sync-options:

Hello marian91,

Looking at the screenshot provided, the "Fetch" settings are the only ones being offered. You have the option to choose Automatically, Manually, Hourly, Every 30 minutes or Every 15 minutes for your mail to check for new items. Please keep in mind that when using the Automatic setting, fetch will only occur when connected to power and Wi-Fi. When those circumstances aren't met, you'll need to manually sync the inbox to view new arrivals. If you switch to the other one of the other options, your device will check for new messages as selected (Hourly, Every 30 minutes or Every 15 minutes) regardless of being connected to Wi-Fi or power.

Best wishes.

Hello marian91,

We're not finding any settings related to the one you are referring to. The information we have found only provides details that the email options will allow you to choose Automatic, Manually, Hourly, Every 30 minutes or Every 15 minutes. Unless this was a special setting provided by your email provider, we can't find any documentation regarding the options you've mentioned. Given that, you may want to check with your email provider for more details.

If you can't receive email on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Check Mail Fetch and Notification settings.

Thank you.
