Exiting YouTube TV on ATV?

I use YouTube TV to stream live TV content thru my Apple TV 4K. I've noticed that if I just put my ATV to sleep when I'm done watching, YouTube TV will basically freeze the channel/show I have on at that spot as the ATV powers off. When I come back, turn on my ATV, YTTV just resumes right from where it was stopped, even if it's 12 hrs later. I have to manually advance the feed on the YTTV to get to "live" TV, for the current time.

I have to assume this isn't a good thing to do, right? YTTV has to queue up, or capture the content in the HDR, or something, so that it can pick up where I left off? I'm using data as this happens? It's best (not easiest, but best) toI close YTTV by pushing the "window" off (double click computer key on remote)? Anyone know?

Thanks!

if youtube still displays this behavior after the app being closed and started again then they must be saving the progress with your youtube account somehow, only google would be able to alter it.
