simple drag and overwrite operation

I can't believe there's not a simple way to drag and overwrite this highlighted clip to the primary storyline below. I've worked on every editing system known to man and have never had this kind of obstruction to my work. The "overwrite to primary storyline" in the edit menu is grayed out.

Are you in a project? It looks like you're editing inside a sync clip container. Normally you can do what you want, but being in a sync clip may prevent it. If you syncing multiple clips into a container you should use the multicam clip function. Sync clip is designed for one video to one or more audio files.

You should try the multicam clip function. If all the clips come from the same camera that's fine. Assign the same angle number to all the clips. Select them all in the browser and assign the same number or whatever. That will put them all in the same lane. If you know the order the clips should be in, it might help to name them sequentially. Select all the clips and the audio and run create multicam. I have no idea how well it will work with Cambodian, but it might. There's audio on the shots. It's just matching sounds.

yes, I'm in a sync clip container, and I have multiple videos running against a long audio clip. unfortunately there's no way I can tell which video clips go with the audio, so I'm having to listen to all of them (in Cambodian) as I go. They didn't slate anything, all the audio timecodes start with 00:00:00:00 and all the video timecodes start with 01:00:00:00.... so it's kind of all lip sync after the first automatic sync... and it's not multiple cameras, one camera keeps turning off and on as the audio rolls.... yikes.

It's not that I can't do a workaround, I was just hoping I could do it in one move rather than three...
