Smart mailboxes on M1 Mac stop working (restart required)

I like how most of my email settings got carried across to my new MacBook Air with M1, but I wish the smart mailboxes were more reliable. They stop working after a while and the whole Mac has to be restarted to get them to work again. Restarting Mail doesn't fix it. Anyone know why?

Thanks for testing this with us. Since you have tried some troubleshooting and only see results when you restart


Start up your Mac in safe mode and test if this continues. We'll want to verify if this makes a difference


We understand that the article didn't cover your specific issue. If you create a new Smart Mailbox does the same thing happen? We want to check more into what you are observing and your exact macOS version, Please use the Apple menu  in the corner of your screen, choose About This Mac.
