Download Zip Files

I get totally confused, as you know, very computer knowledge, when I download a zip file, I go into

the top, click it on and file shows up on my desktop screen. But when I double click it on, it just makes another copy of that file icon as 2, 3, etc. But when I move the icon into my SD card and go into my SD card, I double click it and it brings up another file folder. I am trying to copy a file from my SD card to my camera. But which file do I use?? I just need to have the correct file on my SD card ,to copy into my camera for an update. Is this the way it should be done, having to move into a SD or Flash Drive before I can double click on the folder and then get the folder I need to copy to camera??The instructions state the download file needs to be copied to root folder of the memory card. Is their a clue on either one of these files that I need to always look for, to know which one is to be copied from the SD card to my camera. Before I did this, I would send the other one to the trash, before putting SD card into my camera.

That is a binary file and not a .Zip file. Usually .bin files are firmware files and are not meant to be opened with normal apps. You need to follow the instructions on the camera manufacturer's website on how to update the firmware of your camera. It may be as simple as copying the .bin file to the SD card and using the menus on the camera to upload the firmware to the camera. Again, read the documentation included with your camera or check on the camera manufacturer's website for instructions on how to upgrade the firmware.
