Shift+click in Apple's Finder Within Icons View
I can understand the limitation that you can drag the files anywhere but still.. Any suggestions or workarounds versus using the list views. Icons view would seem useless...

Im selecting 10's of files through a folder. Multiple selection. The arrow keys seems to be the best alternative in the icon view. I do like the columns view though.
Use the Finder view that best defines your productivity. I use and have used icon view for decades, and it is simplest for me. What is your shift+click in reference too with regards to Finder icon view? Multiple selection? Using a single click on an object, and then using the right-arrow key to walk across a group of icons that you also want to select? Drag around all icons in a row that you want to select?
In both List (⌘2) and Column (⌘3) views, you can click on a file or folder and then press the shift key and the last item in that column, and everything between is selected.
