Low sound on zoom and skype

I have had my iPad Pro 11 2020 for a month. I use both Skype and Zoom, but suddenly after updating to iPadOS 14.3 the incoming sound on both has become inaudible. It does not respond to buttons and shows at maximum in settings. On my iPad Pro 9.7 2016 the sound is normal and responds to buttons.

One of my reasons for upgrading to the new iPad Pro was to have a better experience on video calls, but they are now impossible and I have had to revert to my old device.

Is there a way of fixing this or is it a matter of waiting until Apple fixes the bug in the next update?
