New MacBook Air M1: Red or magenta IPS glow on the right side of the panel. Is this normal?

Hello!

I am very happy with my new MacBook Air but today I was watching a movie (Alien) and I noticed a reddish glow on the right half of the display.

So I turned out the light and I saw it even better. I turned brightness of the screen to 100% and about half of the screen is glowing in a red light while the left side is looking like a usual IPS panel grey.

I took a picture with my iPhone XR and while I think it's exaggerating a bit it pretty much shows what I'm seeing. Is this normal? I found a thread on Macrumors with many people claiming to have the same problem on a new M1 Macbook.

Definitely not normal.

Any well made display will have small brightness variations

across the screen (my M1 Air is roughly +/- 2 lumens when

at 620 lumen average or 0.3%), but extreme color variation

like you have is a manufacturing defect. I would contact

Apple Support immediately with the issue if I were you.
