New M1 Mac mini keyboard Lagging

So I've had my new M1 16g Mac mini for about 3 weeks now. a few days ago I noticed that when typing (whether it be google, safari, an email ect. the typing response/lag is horrendous. a few seconds. then all of a sudden all the letters will come out of nowhere. i tried turning off the keyboard and mouse and turning them back on. I tried restarting, I ended up completely shutting the computer down for a few minutes then starting back up and it fixed the issue for what seemed to be 12hours ..... I'm super P*ssed. does anyone have similar issues with the new M1's? do i need to send this thing back?

Yeahh, yesterday while I was chatting with Support a new Release came out:

macOS Big Sur‌ 11.2 improves Bluetooth reliability and fixes the following issues:

- External displays may show a black screen when connected to a ‌Mac mini‌ (‌M1‌, 2020) using an HDMI to DVI converter

- Edits to Apple ProRAW photos in the Photos app may not save

- ‌iCloud Drive‌ could turn off after disabling the ‌iCloud Drive‌ Desktop & Documents Folders option

- System Preferences may not unlock when entering your administrator password

- Globe key may not display the Emoji & Symbols pane when pressed

Let's all test it and report back, if it's still happening (I definitely had the Black Screen Problem, iCloud Drive and the Mouse stutters).

I'm going on 3 weeks and I've started lagging a great deal (on hold waiting for support about it right now). I have 3 windows of Safari open, messages, and Fantastical calendar running on dual monitors (USB-C/HDMI). Cannot scroll the mouse across the screen without constant chopping. Two weeks ago I was shouting how fast this little thing was now I'm considering returning it if I can't get this figured out.

I agree that Apple needs to respond. It does not look like anyone from Apple is monitoring this thread. I tried the “turn Magic Mouse off and on” fix this morning and the keyboard went back to normal. It may be than when more than one non-5.0 Bluetooth device is active, the M1 chip starts losing Bluetooth packets. Will keep trying this until it doesn’t work. If Apple is reading, it may give you a hint at what might be causing the problem.

After my earlier post, I can now report that Apple refunded all my money and took back the MacMini. Such a shame that a beautiful machine was ruined for me by the poor bluetooth connection to keyboard. I will now look for a refurbished intel model or even wait another 12 months, check to see if the issue is resolved and then buy another with an M1 chip. No more Mr Guinea Pig for me.

I have this exact same issue. My Apple Bluetooth Keyboard works fine all day, but when my M1 Mac Mini goes to sleep at night and I try to login the next morning, random characters just fly through the password input box. The only way to use my Mac is to plug in the USB/Lightning cable between the Mac Mini and keyboard. I can only fix the issue by rebooting my Mac Mini.

I am using a small Macally keyboard after two of my Apple mini keyboards failed. Clearly my problem was related to the trackpad and I know the batteries were low. I am using a Mac Mini M1 and it could also be due to adding a Roland Fantom workstation to the mix as all this happened at once.

Working fine since taking the pad off. Haven't tried the new batteries.

So, I reported that on 5/31 I had to turn off/on my keyboard to fix a repeating character entry issue when logging in. Everything worked fine for a while and on 6/9 I had the same issue. Turning the keyboard off/on fixed it again. So, I think the latest OS update that I installed helped, but it didn't fix the problem entirely. Although, it is better...

For my M1 Mac Mini bluetooth keyboard issue if I reset the bluetooth module it fixes the issue without me having to reboot my Mac Mini. Turning bluetooth off and back on doesn't fix it, but resetting the bluetooth module does (in my situation).

So, regardless of the May 4th 2020 date, if this utility does in fact reset the bluetooth module then I'm hoping this will be a sufficient hack to help resolve my keyboard issue. I should know after a few days if this works or not for me.
