New M1 Mac mini keyboard Lagging

I tried that (unplugging everything for 30secs) yesterday. now this AM, after the computer would only wake with my mouse (and not keyboard), my keyboard wouldn't work at all. Had to plug the cable to it to type my login credentials, even though keyboard charge is 53%... Could be a bluetooth issue with wake fct

Hundreds of people (at least) have this problem and we try to second guess what might cause it, but the problem is Apple's to solve considering the price they charge for the kit. I tried everything with mine and in the end I returned it and got a full refund (after Apple tried as much as they could to prevent this). I'd seriously consider never buying another mac - and they are all i have used since the 1980s.

Sorry, I should have been more clear. The mouse and keyboard are Apple products from my old 2012 iMac. So they use the older Bluetooth technology, but they worked just fine on the iMac I traded in for the Mini M1. I’ve tried cycling power on the keyboard with no effect, but I’ll give it a go cycling the mouse next time and will get in touch with Apple Support to complain as well.

I only see this issue every few weeks, so it’s not as prevalent as some of the other users up here.

I am having the same problem with my Mac Mini and the extreme keyboard lag. It almost always happens when first logging in the morning after not using for several hours. I have an Apple wireless Keyboard and Mouse. Only solution is to reboot every morning. Very annoying...

I was using a 2014 Mini before the M1, and am still trying to figure out the factors with this issue. I do not think that everyone on Bluetooth has the problem, so that has me wondering, what are the common elements that contribute to the problem?

Another question that I am looking at is the effect of using AirPods? Do you own them? Syncing them with one device (iPhone) apparently syncs them through iCloud to the Mini. This is a behavior that I have not seen with other Bluetooth devices. Also, my keyboard lag issues seemed to have started about when I was given the earbuds. Right now, they are removed from my list of known Bluetooth devices. We shall see...

As best I can tell, my M1 mini Bluetooth keyboard lag issues are directly related to my older Apple Magic Trackpad.

Questions:

Is anyone in this community, who is having lag problems not using an Apple magic trackpad 1 (battery only)? (if so, what are you using? an old Apple bluetooth mouse?)

Is anyone using the new Apple magic trackpad 2, and still having problems?

Having had the previous bluetooth Apple keyboard running on my M1 mac mini with the constant disconnecting and sluggish typing i decided to get rid of it and get the brand new touch id bluetooth keyboard..and the result........................

still the issues persist...

Absolutely shocking that something so simple as bluetooth connection to a keyboard just doesnt work properly...how have Apple not acknowledged this in anyway when its obviously a system wide issue...

I have this issue with a new Apple Magic Keyboard and an older Apple Magic Trackpad. Planning to upgrade the old trackpad because it devours batteries. Hope that will help otherwise I will try the blueutil command mentioned above.

Yes. I just encountered it December 3. More information is in my other post about this. Sorry, but no resolution. Apple Support thinks the problem may be with the keyboard because my other two Bluetooth devices--Magic Touchpad and Magic Mouse--work fine.

I’m still experiencing significant lag after Big Sur 11.2 update. The only way to fix it is to reboot computer, but it comes back after a few hours.

I didn’t waste time tho, I returned it promptly and tbh I think everyone who purchases an item regardless of what it is or for what its use would be, should be able to expect it to be fit for purpose

Fixed with a machine restart. I hope this is not something that I am going to see often. The restart broke my USB NIC and had to unplug and re-insert that too. Why so many stability issues !

I have had this issue only once since getting the new MacMini M1...however a restart cured it...it should not happen.

Also, the screen issue seems to have resolved itself with the last update.

Crazy, I have a similar setup with a 3D-printed bracket on the back of a monitor.

I'm not sure if the my problem was relating to this, but it can surely be that I unplugged an SSD or changed some cabling... It's very strange...

Just got the mac mini a few days ago and already having this problem smh

My first time moving to a Mac thinking everything is going to be smoother, instead it lags all the time. My keyboard and mouse are connected via usb so its not a bluetooth issue. I don't understand how it can work effortlessly on a windows PC but its having these issues with a premium new M1 Mac Mini!
