iphone 12 pro max battery health degrading

I got my new 128GB 12 Pro Max with blue silicon case on the 11/13 launch day. In the weeks since I’ve noticed the battery health has already dropped to 98%. I’ve only used public releases of iOS and haven’t installed any iOS beta’s that would have enabled extra logging functions that could have negatively impacted battery life and health. Optimized charging has been enabled the whole time, and it’s only been charged with a USB-A cable and an Apple 5W charger. I don’t see any apps standing out as battery hogs, and I’m using my phone as much as I did my 11 Pro Max. I’m shocked to see the battery health drop below 100% in the first 6 weeks, and at this rate it will be below 90% by summer 2021. Has anyone else noticed their battery health has dropped below 100% on a 12 Pro Max?

It has nothing to do with chronological time. It is “80% is normal after 500 full charge cycles”. A full charge cycle is from 0 to 100% (or combinations that add up to 100% such as 20% to 70% twice). And you should never let it go to 0% intentionally; that WILL shorten the capacity of the battery if it happens frequently. Ideally, charge it when it gets to 20%, and charge it overnight, every night, with Optimized charging enabled.

Hi,I activated my iphone 12 pro max 15.12.2020. Yesterday my battery health dropped to 98! This is unacceptable for me because my iPhone xs max has been kept at 100% for more than half a year. Probably the battery in 12 pro max is of lower quality as soon as it loses calories so quickly. For such an expensive device like this, it is unacceptable!

It is BETTER for the battery to charge it overnight and remove it in the morning, especially if you enable Optimized Charging. That way all power use during the night comes from the mains rather than the battery, which reduces the need to recharge the battery as often.

At this stage I actually hope the battery dips below 80% by Nov. My daily average is 4hr. 49min.

This is mostly email, Safari, text. Surfing Instagram at times. That's really it. I would not consider this "heavy usage."

I did upgrade to iOS 14.5, battery health remains the same. *The battery health for 11, 11 Pro/ProMax models was supposed to be fixed - recalibrated after the 14.5 update, was hoping for perhaps a little fix for the 12's also, guess not.

iphone 11 may have problem after iOS 14 but the battery life of iPhone 12 really varies . Some are very good but some are bad . 2 staff of apple told me that even “bad” batteries rarely ended up with 80% within one year, though the efficacy would be lower than other” better “ one. Apple has already calculated this 80% in such a way that most clients have no chance in getting exchange free. Most will end after 1+y , then u will need to pay

Your math is way off. If it drops 6% in 5.5 months that is a 1% drop per month, not 1% every 1-2 weeks. (There are 4 1/3 weeks in an average month, not 1 or 2)

And the number of hours you use it is irrelevant, because that could be light usage like reading emails, texting and web browsing, or heavy usage like watching videos or interactive gaming. What matters is how much energy is used in those 6 hours, and how you charge it and for how long. See my other post above this one.
