I am frustrated that you can't screen share your iPad or iPhone to a TV for apple Fitness workouts. I have an Apple branded Lightning to HDMI AV adapter and it blocks this dock connector. Why Apple? I have a subscription, and all Apple products.
I don't need an Apple TV, my TV already has all the apps I need including Apple TV!

To run Fitness+ on a big screen you need an TV (not an TV app) box running tvOS 14.3.
No streaming to TV or running on a Mac is supported, you can use your iPad if you have the latest iPadOS 14.3.

Why is everyone stating over and over what is supported? Everyone is aware of the hardware. We are just frustrated that you can't screenshare (wireless or wired) the workout. This has nothing to do with integrations, or supportability. Just showing your phone's screen on a TV makes the workout more enjoyable (like a peloton, for example). Apple knows this.
This is Apple wanting to sell more AppleTVs. Just be honest about the issue.
The grey area here is I am using it on an iPhone - with an AV connector. (Lightning to HDMI)
Just to add more confusion. If you use an iPad with USB-C connected to HDMI on your TV - it works.
I have the Apple branded AV Adapter. I can stream Netflix, Prime, and Hulu with this. But NOT Apple Fitness? If I did HDMI out from an Apple TV I could digitally record it.
This feels more about buying an Apple TV than Copyrights.
I am seriously considering canceling Fitness + simply because I cannot stream it to my TV or MacBook. I pay for a watch, MacBook, iPhone, 2 iPads & an Apple TV app but I can’t use a larger screen to work out?! This is the one thing pushing me away from Fitness + & I was really looking forward to it.
Well to use Fitness+, you need :
Apple Fitness+ compatibility.
Apple Fitness+ requires Apple Watch Series 3 or later with watchOS 7.2
or later and one of the following Apple devices: iPhone 6s or later with
iOS 14.3 or later, iPad with iPadOS 14.3 or later, or Apple TV with
tvOS 14.3 or later.
I’m aware. I have all of that except an Apple TV. I have a series 5 watch, the latest MacBook Pro, the latest IPad & a XS Max iPhone. I happily fork enough money over to Apple so I don’t want to purchase an Apple TV. I wish I could stream from my MacBook or hoping they at least provide an add-on for Apple TV app users or Roku users.
^EXACTLY! Clearly we’re not morons & understand the “how” but we don’t understand the “WHY!” Apple needs to step it up! & voicing our complaints is what will hopefully steer Apple in the right direction!
The most maddening thing to me for this is owning an Apple TV, but it’s not new enough for them to allow it. I have iPads, iPhones, watches and Apple TV. I shouldn’t be forced to buy another Apple TV only for using Apple Fitness+
Also, then Why can't I stream Fitness+ to my AppleTV app on my Samsung TV? This works for EVERY other piece of content on Apple TV+.
