There used to be a way to collapse all child folders in Finder with one click; option + click, I believe. That doesn't seem to work in Big Sur and I can't find any documentation to do this. My problem is I have my music folders all open and every time I go to that finder screen, it effectively freezes any folder clicks. Thanks

In List View, if you option-click the disclosure triangle on a folder, all subfolders will open or close, depending on whether the top folder was closed or open.
It doesn't work in any other View.

I've used Ctrl-Opt-Cmd-Eject to force shut down when nothing responds. the Eject is the key you use to eject CD's back when computers had optical drives. F13 button on my keyboard across the top. Good luck!

Be careful with large numbers of subfolders, each with large numbers of subfolders.
It may have been fixed, but I doubt it. If there are too many subfolders, Finder will hang up for a while trying to display all of them.
I think it was in the several hundreds realm, though.

Yep that defines the parent folder that contains all the iTunes songs/albums/artists. That problem is still there.
