Stuck on 'less than a minute remaining' upgrading to Big Sur
Trying to upgrade to 11.1 Big Sur on an iMac. In the final stages it says 'less than a minute remaining' and never gets past that. It's been half an hour do far and investigating this issue on the web shows that it affects loads of people.
Rebooting results in an Apple logo followed by a no-entry sign; even with shift held down.
The solutions all seem hit-and-miss.
- Reboot
- Reboot lots of times
- Reboot holding Shift
- Enter Recovery mode and run First Aid
- Wait 24+ hours
... and more
So far I've tried all (except waiting 24+ hours) with no success.
Is there a definitive solution to this widely recognised issue?
