Yeti Microphone Issues With M1 Mac

Hello,


I have purchased a M1 Mac Mini recently, and connected my Blue Yeti X Microphone. I tried to use it, however, when I did a test recording, the audio was very messed up. I have attached a link to listen for yourself. I have tried restarting my device, checked it has all the permissions, the levels were corrected and have searched for solutions but have not came across one. I tried to connect the yeti microphone to a friend's intel based MacBook Pro, and the microphone worked well. Does anyone know how to fix this? Or can Apple fix this in an upcoming software update?

No, It does not work with G Hub. I deleted it and downloaded the latest version and the problem is still the same. Logitech support told me to delete G Hub and install the latest version of Blue Sherpa which I did and the problem is still the same. As I said before, Logitech has no idea what the problem is and I question if they are even trying to figure it out. They just give useless advise to try things that most of us have tried on our own. I wonder if they even have an M1 Mac to test on.

As I said before, Logitech has no idea what the problem is and I question if they are even trying to figure it out. They just give useless advise to try things that most of us have tried on our own. I wonder if they even have an M1 Mac to test on.

https://www.bluemic.com/en-us/products/sherpa/I have figured out how to get my Yeti X to work reliably with M1 MBP - it's a little complicated.


  1. you can boot up with the Yeti X connected and use the built-in audio drivers. But the problem is that the Yeti X occasionally disconnects. When this happens, unplugging and re-plugging the USB doesn't help - Yeti X not visible in the Sound system preferences pane.
  2. DO NOT install the April 14, 2021 version of Logitech G-Hub. When I did this, my Yeti X was recognized. But recording on Voice Memos, Zoom, etc., results in the garbled recordings like that from the original poster. If you do install Logitech G-Hub, make sure it is COMPLETELY uninstalled - delete app and then delete all connected files from /Library/Application Support, etc. It might have also asked for permissions to install system extensions (modifying your kernel). If you allowed it to do this, you'll have to delete the kernel extension that Logitech installed - that is an involved process that I can't explain here.
  3. DO install the Blue Sherpa app here. Even though the page says incompatible with M1, the software installs the “Core Audio Driver (LogiGamingAudio.driver)” Check it out screenshot of Activity Monitor showing the LogiGamingAudio.driver attached. It puts the extension file is in "/Library/Audio/Plug Ins/HAL/LogiGamingAudio.driver”). I presence of this driver causes the Yeti X to work and be recognized reliably. After installing the Blue Sherpa software, just turn off launch at login / startup, and you never need to load it again.

Per my post above, I did install the Sherpa software with Big Sur and m1 Mac; it does seem to work and I use my Blue Yeti all the time with this setup:

hcsitas, I have tried both Logitech G HUB and Blue Sherpa Software. Both work/install and detect the microphone. Both do not resolve the issue -- the recorded audio is messed up. Take this same software and microphone to an older non-M1 mac and everything works just fine (recorded audio is great). Clearly something with compatibility of M1 mac and Yeti.

Not surprising, nonetheless I do feel for you. It seems to me that the G Hub/Blue Sherpa whatchamacallit added software are only required to fool the Mac into providing more power to the Yeti. Otherwise they would be optional, not required. Meaning the game’s probably up as far as Apple’s concerned and the Yeti won’t work period. FWIW, you can await the next Big Sur release, but if I were you, I would sell it on eBay and get something else. Good luck.

Thank you for responding. I have installed Logitech G-Hub and Blue Sherpa before and have uninstalled them using AppCleaner about a month ago since it was no use. Saw your notice and decided to try installing Blue Sherpa again to give it a try.


I can see the LogiGamingAudio.driver in Activity Monitor and plugged in the Blue Yeti X. Low and behold I still am getting gibberish from the microphone. Any things I can try here?


I seemed to recall seeing a link in Logitech where a ticket has been opened to address this. But I could not locate that link anymore. Just want to see if there is any update on that end as well.

I believe that Logitech G-Hub also installs a driver - perhaps App Cleaner didn't completely uninstall the G-Hub stuff. Go into activity monitor, and then sort the processes by "Architecture" - all of the Intel (non-apple silicon) processes should be grouped together. the LogiGamingAudio.driver will be one of them. Do you see another that looks like a G-hub process? If so, this one might be taking over the Yeti and garbling the sound.
