Apple Pencil Drop

Hi,

my Apple Pencil (2nd generation) fell two storeys on some hard ground and the tip got damaged. I replaced it with a new tip put the pencil continues not to work. The iPad recognised the pencil, it changes and I can even make use of the functionality to change from one to the other pen by tapping on the side of the pencil, however, the iPad doesn't recognise the writing when the tip touches the iPad screen. I wonder if this can be fixed or if I should replace the pencil.

Hello there. You’ve most likely damaged a sensor inside the pen, so you may need to go to the nearest Apple Store for troubleshooting. Find your nearest Apple Store: https://www.apple.com/retail/

If the inner (metal) transducer has been damaged, you will require a new Apple Pencil. If only the plastic tip is damaged, then replacing the tip may restore normal operation.

The transducer is a fragile component. If dropping the Pencil onto its tip has damaged the replaceable soft-plastic tip, it is very likely that the Pencil will now be broken. Other than the replaceable plastic tip, the Pencil has no serviceable parts.
