External Monitor port on model a1224 imac mini-dvi?

i have an old Imac is use in for music recording becuase it has power tools installed. It is model a1224 sn W8749224Xxx i believe it is 2007 the display starts up but fades until it is too dim to read i want to put an external monitor on it.


the specs say the port is Mini-Dvi - is that correct? can i use a mini-dvi to hdmi cable to run a 2nd monitor to try and salvage what is on the machine.

It's a mini-DVI port on 2007 and 2008 models, and a Mini DisplayPort on early 2009 ones; the A1224 descriptor can apply to any of these.
