Error with HP Scanjet 5590

I just upgraded to MacOS Catalina. Now my HP 5590 Scanjet won't operate. I've tried through the HP EasyScan and the Printer/Scanner option in settings on my iMac with the same results.

The error message is (com.apple.imagecapture error 704.) What can I do to get the scanner working again. -- Pat

you can also try reset print system if necessary:

If you still have an issue, delete the existing printer in

> System Preferences> Printers & Scanners, and add it again.

Connect an AirPrint printer to a Wi-Fi network - Apple Support.

If you can't find an updated driver for your printer give the open-source, free Gutenprint driver a try.

The paid, 64-bit VueScan Professional supports the HP ScanJet 5590 without any HP drivers or software installed. Download and give it a try, and see if it gets the job done without any further fussing around with HP.

In 2010, I purchased VueScan Professional to drive an already at that date unsupported Canon Scanner. I have never paid the vendor for updated software support, and the current VueScan version still drives that Canon scanner on Big Sur 11.1. I receive no benefit from this vendor for mentioning their product.
