Video audio has mysterious static sound when playing recorded video using Camera app.

I noticed my iPhone12 Pro has an issue when recording audio when creating a video using the Camera app. The video seems to record a buzzing sound on top of the audio. When watching the video in the Photos gallery, the play head seems to jump when the video plays. The speakers work normally when watching videos from say Youtube, but only seems to produce the issue when recording a video using the Camera app.

I also tried recording video using other apps like Instagram. The issue does not seem to reproduce there.

i'm having the exact same issue on my iPhone XR . This happens only when recording via camera app. Tried all the things but nothing works. Is there anyone who fixed this issue ?

Hi ToastyMitten,

We understand that you're hearing static when recording videos on your iPhone 12 Pro, and we'd like to help. When you get a chance, would you mind working through the steps below and letting us know if the problem happens in all instances? The reason we ask is that the iPhone has multiple microphones and this will help us better determine which one is having the problem.

I am also having this issue on my iPhone 12 Pro. I've had the phone since the fall, and I don't think it's happened for my entire period owning it, but it definitely has been happening for the last week-plus. I've tried all of the fixes listed here, and none of them have worked to completely eliminate the issue, though some have caused it to lessen, and others have made it worse. Like others have said, it only happens in the native Camera app. I'm shocked that there isn't a fix here yet, but sometimes Apple only seems interested in making apps that work just fine into trash, as they did with the update to the Podcasts app, which made it an absolute nightmare to use and deal with. Would love to see a fix in an iOS update at some point soon.

I had originally indicated that if you go to settings, camera, video recording and un check and recheck 1080p HD at 30 FPS it would fix the issue. However that is only temporary. The problem still exists.

Apple.com what are you going to do to correct this issue? I will be going to TMoble to replace my phone, however I suspect it is a systemic issue on all Apple Phones.

The microphones work well with other apps Making calls, using the microphones for things like Instagram or Voice Memos, Facetime, etc. The static sounds I hear are being written into the video file itself. I tried airdropping one of the videos recorded using the Camera app onto my laptop and the sound still persists in the movie file played on my laptop.

I am also having the same issue. I know that there are 3 mics on the iPhone 12 Pro, different apps use different ones. The video recording for me is very crackly on playback and that’s recited with the mic that’s located near to the camera on the back of the phone. Don’t know which other app to test that mic with? Tried updating software etc no good.
