Video audio has mysterious static sound when playing recorded video using Camera app.

I have the same issue, except mine suddenly happened on an old video I took. Immediately after I recorded it, it was fine. However, 6 months later, half the video only had static sound.

(I recorded it on an iPad Pro 9.7 inch)

I am having the same issue. Just started today. Had this phone a month.

all I need to do is load the camera and go to video mode - I can hear the static noise faintly coming from the phone and I do not need to be recording.

when I do record, I can hear the noise, the video is shaky, and it is blurring / does not stay focused.

I have only had the 12ProMax for a little over a week. I am having the same issue. I tried restarting the phone which worked once. But now the static is there whenever I record a video. I’ve chatted with Apple techs twice now to no avail. I do have an appointment with them at the Apple store tomorrow.

I have the new iPhone SE. Just got it a few days ago and have this same problem with camera and videos made on WhatsApp. Instagram videos have crystal clear sound. This is sooo annoying and frustrating

I’m having the same issue - upgraded from 5S to new SE three months ago, after two months noticed buzzing/hissing sound on all my Live Photo’s and video recordings using phone’s camera app, including ones playing back that I recorded before on my 5S. Can hear it still if listening back through earphones. Have noticed it on phone calls too (on a loop, static for 3-4 secs, no static 3-4 secs, static 3/4 secs etc) now if I am not using earphones. So upset! I have tried all the solutions suggested on the forum and nothing has worked- have read that a few people have replaced their SE a few times and problem recurs after a few months. I have kept my phone in an expensive “drop-proof” Mous case but have NOT dropped it at all, so is this a software issue?

Me too my audio ONLY on my camera app sounds static. When i record on my back camera its fine sometimes but not all the time. And my front camera sounds static all the time now. I tried messing with the settings and put it back to normal, didnt help. every other thing on my phone that records or plays audio works perfectly fine. Please help asap. if anyone has a fix please let all of us know

I am also having this issue on my iPhone 12 Pro. I've had the phone since the fall, and I don't think it's happened for my entire period owning it, but it definitely has been happening for the last week-plus. I've tried all of the fixes listed here, and none of them have worked to completely eliminate the issue, though some have caused it to lessen, and others have made it worse. Like others have said, it only happens in the native Camera app. I'm shocked that there isn't a fix here yet, but sometimes Apple only seems interested in making apps that work just fine into trash, as they did with the update to the Podcasts app, which made it an absolute nightmare to use and deal with. Would love to see a fix in an iOS update at some point soon.

I have been having a very similar issue. When recording video on my iphone 11 pro, sometimes the audio will be complete static, sometimes the recorded audio is audible or partially audible intermittently. Sometimes the audio records just fine. Turned off the stereo recording setting and this did not fix the issue. This issue has been occurring for maybe a year despite numerous software updates. Recording audio seems to work fine in other apps, like voice memos. Someone please get to the bottom of this!

Just got off second chat with Apple Tech Support in the camera static video issue. I did everything they asked and it didn’t fix the issue. Thus the second call. They now say I have two options.

1-they will send me a box and I send it in to be looked at by a tech.

Told them being without my phone is not acceptable.

2-locate a Apple store and set up an appointment to have them look at it. They are saying the issue is not covered and I could have to pay for the service and possible fix.

I told them I will go to the Apple Store but will not pay for a Apple systemic issue.

Needless to say happy Apple is not acknowledging this is a systemic issue caused by their product.

Will advise as to any progress.

I have the same issue except my mic works on the camera app but doesn’t work on voice memos, Snapchat, Instagram etc. it’s just all static but isn’t on the camera app it’s weird and took it to apple today and wouldn’t fix it

im having the same issue with my my iphone 11 pro . when i record videos on instagram camera or voice recorder app it doesn’t make those static sound , but when i record videos on the camera app it starts making those static sound . i cleaned it very clean already but it doesn’t seem to be the problem . and im sure the problem is not inside my phone either because i can record video on other app normally without the static sound . do help me out , i just recently got my iphone .

I have the same problem, I have an iPhone 13 mini and when I film o the default camera app I get a static/wind sound almost like been in the top Everest with 90km winds, not sure how to fix it, I have spent 8 hours and talking with apple support and talking with 5 diferentes advisors and I don’t know how to fix it

i have the same issue with my brand new iPhone 8 Plus and I also can’t hear adio recordings or videos taken on the phone all i hear are statics I also can’t make calls because there isn’t any sound that’s being produced and the phone was bought yesterday

I appreciate your responses and suggestions. I’ve found that iPhone 8 apparently does not record in stereo so turning off stereo is not an option for me. I think my route will be to get my phone tested at Apple. Thanks to all.

yep! i've had this phone for literally three weeks. so.... nothing has happened to it and idk why it is doing this!
