HomePod responds “Looks like Apple Music can’t play that”

On the HomePod, when I ask Siri to play a Playlist (Apple or self made), it often responds “Looks like Apple Music can’t play that”. I’d say Siri works 50% of the time when I ask for a specific playlist. Playlist Bedtime Beats is one I’m having trouble with. It works on my phone.

The Playlist is in my Library and I’m the primary user. I’ve tried to delete the playlists that don’t work and re-add, but does not fix. I've also tried signing out and back in of Apple Music on the HomePod from the Home app. I have the “Allow explicit material” setting on.

I had the same issue and needed to reset my HomePod. After which it worked great. You can do that by opening the Home app, then doing a long-press on your HomePod, selecting the settings icon in the bottom-right, scrolling to the bottom and then selecting "Reset HomePod..."

This will completely remove it and then you can add it again to Home. It should work again after that. Hope that helps (it did for me).

I've been noticing this issue suddenly in the last two days. I always play this certain Apple curated playlist on both my HomePod and HomePod Mini when suddenly the HomePod in my room kept saying "Looks like Apple Music can't play that.", but it would still recognize the command and play it on my HomePod Mini.

Removing the HomePod from the Home app and adding it back as an accessory fixed it. Now it recognizes the playlist request.
