Manually add old photos to iCloud - Sorting issues

Hi all,

I have just started using iCloud and all the photos that are on my new phone (9000 all together) have been uploaded to iCloud.

I also had some old photos, since 2013, that I had saved on my external hard drive. I wanted to save them to iCloud as well. However I am facing the following issue -

  • All the old photos that I manually upload show in the wrong order in the Camera Roll (Recent Photos). They show as added today and not in chronological order. This is a problem because when I try to upload a photo to facebook or any other 3rd party app, my old photos show up first instead of the photos I captured using the phone recently.

The Library folder is all good, since it shows pictures taken in chronological order and the older photos show in the correct order.

From what I can see, there is no way to sort the recent folder in chronological order. It is always sorted in the order in which photos were added to the iCloud library.

Is there a way I can solve this issue quickly and easily, without having to delete everything from iCloud and then re-upload everything again in chronological order (manually).

Thanks

Bhumika

I am running the latest version of iOS. I know that the "Photos" view sorts them according to the date that they were taken. However the problem occurs when I am trying to upload photos to a 3rd party app e.g. Facebook. It only gives the option of the "recent" album which means I see the old photos, uploaded recently showing up first. I then need to scroll to find the most recently taken photo.

I however have found a workaround for this problem. When I am importing the old photos from the external hard drive into the photo library, I change the date of the laptop to something in the past .This way, the photo library thinks that the photos were added to the library in the past and does not show these photos towards the top in the recent album.

I think this workaround works well and does the trick.

Thanks

Which system version is running on your iPhone?

The "recents" album is showing you your photos sorted by the day you added them. That is not necessarily the day the photos have been taken.

You could look for the new photos in the "Photos" view in the Days, where they are sorted by the capture date. And collect the new photos in a separate album, where you are always finding the most recent camera photos in one place.
