Shared Google Drive folder into Macbook Air

Dear users and Apple,

I have installed Google Drive on my Macbook Air 2019. I have a shared folder on my Google Drive which someone else have invited me to.

I would like to be able to save directly from my Macbook into that shared folder on Google Drive. Currently I can only save directly into my own Google Drive and then I have to manually move the documents from my own Google Drive folder into the shared Google folder.

I hope it is possible I can just save directly into the shared folder?

Many thanks for your help.

Best regards,

Stefan

Hey there Stefan,

We'd like to help rule out all we can from your Mac's side of things regarding saving a file directly to your shared folder in Google Drive.

As this is an app developed by Google, you may need to contact them for further troubleshooting. Let's start ruling out some possible causes:

  1. We see you're using the latest macOS 11.1, so let's rule out the Google Drive app from being outdated. This link shows how to Update apps or use automatic downloads.
  2. We also recommend a restart of your Mac. Check out the section 'Restart' here: Log out, sleep, wake, restart, or shut down your Mac
  3. As you can save files to Google Drive, then you can move those files to your shared folder, that is one workaround. If we're correct in saying that the option to save a file directly to the shared folder isn't an option, this may be how the app works. We recommend contacting Google support at this time. Check out the section 'Contact the developer of apps on your Mac' here: How to contact an app developer

Take care!
