How to show battery percentage on iPhone 12

The new iPhone 12 doesn’t have the options to show the battery percentage inside the battery icon all the time like the iPad has.

control centre shows the percentage but I need to use a swipe down to see that

is there a way to enable battery percentage inside the battery icon so that I can see it all the time.

This is how iPad shows percentage of the battery.

Just swipe down from the top-right corner of your display. On iPhone SE (2nd generation), iPhone 8 or earlier, iPad, and iPod touch (7th generation), you can see the battery percentage in the status bar. Go to Settings > Battery and turn on Battery Percentage.

Show the battery percentage on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod ...

Yes I see there is less room but the room taken up by the to me unless battery icon could be used for the battery "percentage" something I think most iPhone user miss. As for the widget you have to lose 4 of your icon to make room for the huge battery widget which to me looks out of place.

No I believe most of use would welcome the battery percentage back on the top instead of a battery icon

Just had an update and the first thing I did was to go to battery but no change I was hoping the percentage was there again and we could replace the useless battery image with that top bar battery percentage again.

I have the 12 mini the first upgrade since the original SE, it's not as small as the lovely SE but a good compromise and as small as we will ever get now. Its a great phone but I really do hate not having the percentage on the top bar all the time and really really hate that huge percentage midget

There is no more proof needed that Apple does not care about usability than the removal of this feature. What could they possibly be thinking? it’s as insulting as just about anything Apple could do.

it’s simply this: you don’t need to easily know your battery percentage.

Just like you can’t know that BT is on, or to know field strength, etc.

Apple ain’t what it used to be.

Agreed! Spent 10 or 15 minutes on my new iPhone 12 trying to locate batt percentage. Then reading comments to discover the “top right swipe action” that does not allow permanent placement of the percentage. Agree, provide option of a batt image or a percentage if it is a problem of room on the screen. This is my sixth iPhone since 2006. It may be my last. Many other options are available and my buying experience and switch-over to this 12 has not been smooth.

I'm not going to suggest to apple how they can fix the battery percentage problem but I will say this: I expect a few things when I pick up my phone, the time, strength of my phone and WiFi signals and how much battery do I have left before I need to plug in. All the other stuff, messages, emails, camera, apps, flashlight, music, etc. are important too but the battery percentage is like a gas gauge; I want to see it every time I turn on the engine without scrolling or swiping.

Fix it.

I agree the battery percentage is a MUST and the silly over sized widget or expecting us to keep dragging the screen down to see it does not work. Please Apple get rid of the useless battery icon and give us the good old percentage back. Still cannot believe some software engineer thought they had a good idea to get rid of a very important and useful thing like the battery percentage from the top of the phone.

It boggles my mind how anybody at Apple could come up with this change that actively makes the user experience worse.

Adding a gadget or swiping to the control center are not solutions: They all require user action.

All I want is to take one look at my phone, locked or unlocked, and instantly and exactly see how much % I have left without any extra inputs. Something that worked perfectly fine for over a decade on Apple devices and now is just gone, replaced by a tiny bar that leaves me mostly guessing instead of actually knowing.

Please give us an option to change this, I'm even completely fine with missing out on the bar and just having a %, anything but the current implementation is fine, but the current one is actively agitating me over my new iPhone 12 mini, which is not something that should be a thing.
