Photo Optimization

My photo optimization is turned off in iCloud settings but all of my pictures in my camera roll are blurry until I zoom in. I can’t seem to get them back to high resolution.

Also, for the record, it was a figure of speech

IMO it's a dumb figure of speech. Who exactly are you threatening here? Fellow users? And yes it is a threat. Why else say it?

We've offered to help and nobody answers the well intentioned questions.

filled with lots of pictures from her older phone

Not an answer to my question.

doing the "Optimize Storage" trick

No idea what this means.

If the library is large, and you toggle optimize off and on and don't wait for very long, you'll get the issue you describe.

Off and on sends conflicting commands to the optimize process and could delay completion by days if your library is large and you have waited an hour to draw your conclusion.

One can get help here if you wish.

Yes, call me crazy, but I do find it unbelievable that a billion dollar company still hasn't fixed an issue that has been going on for years now :) you can find reddit threads stating the exact same problem that the OP in this thread has, and that my sister has, and they come from the iPhone 6 era (I've even found threads where iPhone 4S users had the same bug lol)

She's had her new phone for a couple of days now. She hasn't taken that many pictures with it (less than fifty I'd say) although her camera roll is filled with lots of pictures from her older phone. She's noticed the issue today. iCloud for her Photos was always turned off on her phone (I did try enabling it, doing the "Optimize Storage" trick but nothing changed).

Also, for the record, it was a figure of speech. But you do have to agree that it is ridiculous that Apple still hasn't dealt with such a weird and recurring rendering issue in the past 5 years.

we'll try to switch the iCloud optimization on and off and wait in between,

Read my advice again please.

Not understanding what the Optimize Storage trick means, I assumed you already toggled it off and on. I highly suggest you don't do it again to possibly further slow the syncing process.

Then again, you do you.

Users here have reported large libraries taking days and weeks to optimize.

Hard to help when the only description of the size of the library we have is lots. Not passive aggressive... amazed you won't answer a few simple questions.

Hi, have you solved this issue? My sister has been having it too with her brand new iPhone SE (2nd gen) and it's been driving her crazy - and rightly so. After looking around online we quickly realized that this is a problem that iOS users have been having for years now, lasting through devices and OSes. It is absolutely outraging that Apple isn't actively fixing this bug. I think we're about to sue.

I really don't understand why you felt so attacked by my idiom. Why would I sue another user experiencing the same issue as my sister, or just any forum user at all...? I was clearly talking about the company at fault lol... I do appreciate the help nonetheless (again I literally never meant any harm to you but okay you do you)

We'll try to switch the iCloud optimization on and off and wait in between, though I am not very hopeful. I've checked out every relevant forum thread I've encountered and nothing seems to do it. Some users report the issue coming and going though, which would maybe make sense according to the optimization process you've explained (or so i think?). Thanks
