My Mac doesn’t start up and I don’t have the serial number

Otherwise, I know it is a long shot, but if the computer won't turn on

• If you have your product's original packaging, you can check the barcode to find the serial number.
• You can also find your product's serial number on the original product receipt or invoice.

Is this Associated to your Apple Account? If so, view this on Apple, by clicking on the device, and viewing the bottom line.

1. Go Here: Manage your Apple ID - Apple (https://appleid.apple.com/account/manage)
2. Log in: to your Apple Account
3. Scroll Down: to Devices pane
4. Click: the device
5. View: the bottom line

Your Serial Number is Right There

The serial number of your iMac will be on the bottom of its foot.

Three Thoughts:

I. Use Safe Mode:

1. Boot: [Hold Down: shift key] upon boot.
2. Try These Methods: Find the model and serial number of your Mac - Apple Support

II. Use Recovery Mode:

A. Use: "About this Mac..."

1. Boot: [Hold Down: command + R] upon boot.
2. Enter: your password (if prompted)
3. Click: on the Apple emblem (Top-Left corner of screen).
4. Select: About this Mac...
5. View: the Serial Number

B. Use Terminal:

1. Boot: [Hold Down: command + R] upon boot.
2. Enter: your password (if prompted)
3. Click: Utilities menus (on top of screen)
4. Select: Terminal
5. Use: the commands here: Get a Macs Serial Number from the Command Line - OSXDaily
6. Press: return key
