Footnote in table in Pages

I could not find right way to add footnote into table in Pages.

How do I insert a footnote in iPad Pages? I have an iPad Pro and version 13.0 of Pages. I cannot figure out how to insert a footnote in a document. I have followed the instructions in Help, as well as those given in the forum, but nothing seems to work for me. No matter what I do, an option to insert a footnote does not appear for me. I have tried to customize my toolbar, but a button to "insert" is not available. Help!

Inserting a footnote in a Pages document I want to insert a footnote in a pages document. I know you have to click "footnotes" at the top of the sidebar, and that the word "footnotes" isn't normally visible there, but what do you do to make it appear? I found a conversation that said you first have to have a footnote. But you can't have a footnote if you have been unable to enter one because of the absence of the "footnotes" button in the sidebar. Seems like a catch 22 situation to me. Can anyone help please? I'm sure there's a simple way through this but I can't see it.

That is because footnotes only function in body text, not in document objects like tables. That is why the Insert menu footnote item is unselectable.
