Following up on this thread for anyone else in this situation.

  1. On 04/20 I filed a claim online at: File an iPhone Theft and Loss Claim - Official Apple Supporthttps://support.apple.com › iPhone. The claim online failed. AIG's website is 'down' so I called into apple care which I recommend. You will need to have had Find my iPhone on - care will tell you to put in Lost mode and then in Erase mode, I suggest just waiting until support walks you through this. Apple then sent me 'AppleCare+ Theft & Claim detail' email with a Repair I.D that AIG does not use. AIG uses a 101###### format. Apple will send claim to AIG.
  2. On 4/21 when I heard nothing, I decided to call AIG. I gave AIG my Serial NO. they were able to locate my claim. They asked for my info on the claim (lost date, what happened) and I provided them with my shipping address and my debit card. Payment ($149) went through as I saw it on my bank online portal. Still no communication via email.
  3. On 4/22 I was able to check my Apple Support Claim status and saw that a replacement product was 'pending'.
  4. This status will stay Pending until they ship the phone - when in stock. Should be within 5 business days.
  5. On 4/23 I checked the portal once again and saw that a Fedex tracking number was provided via APPLE. Apple will ship replacement. AIG just approves claim and sends notification to warehouse to prepare phone.
  6. On 4/26 I received my replacement via FEDEX overnight and everything is all set. Never received any email from AIG nor Apple after the first email from Apple. I suggest being patient and calling AIG 24 HOURS after you submit your claim through apple. Then after you pay deductible I would wait another 24 hours to check with AIG if claim was approved. If so, I would check the apple support claim status portal online to see if there is any updates.
  7. Overall no communication was sent but phone was received.

YMMV: this is how my journey went, yours may be different of course. If you have any questions you can reply to this specific response and I can provide more detail if needed!

In the meantime, I'm still hopeful that the person who stole my brand new iPhone 12 had a sudden excruciating onset of gout, followed by a painful flare-up of shingles, then broke out from head to toe in a mysterious itching and burning rash that lasted for 14 days. And while dealing with that, received notice of an upcoming audit from the Connecticut Dept of Taxation and Revenue, and then got dumped by his or her boyfriend or girlfriend for being such a loser.

Not that I'm resentful.

Hey, wondering how long it took to get any communication from AIG?

I submitted my claim on Monday morning 4-19

I got an email from Apple with a Theft & Loss claim and repair ID - apple sent this

But have heard nothing from AIG or Apple since.

Apple said they submitted the claim and they can not do anything but submit the claim. The repair ID does not even register through the AIG claim portal.

When I check the repair ID via apple the status says "your repair is pending",

Not sure if I will hear from AIG.

Thank you for your responses on this thread, I really appreciate it. I currently see on my apple status claim that the replacement will be shipped soon. This is through the mysupport.apple.com website.

It has been in the "your replacement product will ship soon" stage for 2 days now. I will follow up on this thread (if) when I get my replacement for any future readers.

I have been on the phone with this company (AIG) for hours!!! They cannot figure out why my claim is still pending. I am now on hold with the supervisor which is not a nice man. I have been an apple girl my whole life (phone, watch, iPad, computer) but after being placed on hold for over an hour, my money could be better spent elsewhere. I know “apple” does not approve the claims but take accountability for who you partner with!!!!! Very disappointed

Update from June 19,2021

STILL NOTHING- NO UPDATE

AIG kept saying they haven’t receive data from APPLE. APPLE said that my info was transferred and there’s nothing they can do anymore. Basically getting a runaround. Also been sending email to AIG but nothing… will never ever purchase Apple care again!!!! Never and share my experienced with customer service with AIG & APPLE to my Family and Friends. Sad and very disappointed.

Its interesting nobody has posted on this thread in over a month... I just got off the phone with AIG about my stolen iphone12 Pro Max, and was told I could expect it to take "FIVE TO TEN BUSINESS DAYS " to receive my replacement.

Is this what all of you were told as well? This is utterly mindblowing. How can Apple get behind this kind of customer service experience?

Also for what its worth, if i went through my carrier insurance (Assurant) it's almost double the cost for the deductible. AIG = $150 Assurant = $280. This whole thing is just deporable. Is there some way to show Apple our complete disgust at this process... but in a way they will actually do something about it?

I am willing to write, call, message anyone to express my concerns with this insurance program.

You can send strongly worded letter to Apple Headquarters suggesting that they end their offering Loss and Theft coverage and everyone can go back to buying their own. I don't know of any companies that will settle a claim any faster than that unless you pay much more for the policy. Most insurance companies won't even issue policies on smartphones and tablets, it isn't worth the money.

No, I had called after my credit card was charged and AIG told me that my claim was approved because they had charged my credit card. This is the same information they have posted on their claims page "Your card will not be charged until your claim has been approved."

I received the approval on the 5th. What I'm saying is that rather than have to wait for Apple to ship out a device (possibly without overnight shipping) it would have been nice to have the option to go in and select a store pickup. Especially because I have the service due to the iPhone Upgrade Program, which means I really don't have an extra device laying around that I can go activate (due to the fact that I send back all of the devices I purchase from them).

My phone was stolen abroad. I filed a claim with AIG, called AIG every day since my claim was filed, every agent tells me something different, eventually someone found out that there was an "IT error" that resulted in my claim being "stuck" and never processed.

After they escalated the issue, and removed the IT error from my claim, now they're telling me it is with Apple to ship the phone.

I contacted Apple and they tell me it is with AIG and they have no information on my claim, AIG is in charge of the delivery as well. It has been extremely frustrating and time consuming.

Both AIG and Apple will not take responsibility for figuring out what is going on. It has been 10+ days since my claim was approved.

If some of you have been through this, and if you have any helpful tips on how to proceed, please let me know.

The support page shows "Your replacement product will be shipped to you soon." for several days now without any updates.
