Can I use dual external monitors with a 16" Macbook Pro?

I just figured this out for myself, maybe this will work for you too. I have both external monitors going into HDMI to USB-C adapters, and then the key for me was to make sure they were plugged into the USB-C slots closest to me when I'm typing. The rear slots didn't work.

what cables and adapters are you using to make the connection?

what displays are you trying to connect?

I am also having this issue. What adapters should I be using? I have one Belkin USB/HDMI to USB-C adapter, a Plugable USB 3.0 to HDMI Video Graphics Adapter, and a Sabrent USB Type-C Dual HDMI Adapter but I can't seem to get two external monitors to work (without mirroring.)

I have a late 2019 16-inch Macbook.
