Siri doesn't respond to "hey Sir".

Have an iPad (5th generation). Updated to software ver 14.3. Siri responds when holding the home button and can hear me but not when I say "hey Siri". Have done all the suggested checks and rebooted several times. Microphone works for all other items. Found this problem because during a face time call the other user said my sound was cutting in and out.

Any suggestions?
